Team news: Targett starts at Brighton

Matt Targett will start for Newcastle United at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday evening as Eddie Howe makes one change to his side for the clash at the Amex Stadium (5:30pm kick-off).

The left back replaces the injured Sven Botman for the game on the south coast, which will be former Southampton defender Targett's first start since the final day of last season.

Head coach Howe has opted to stick with the bulk of the team which were beaten by Liverpool at St. James' Park last time out, with Nick Pope in goal behind a backline of Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Dan Burn - who is moved inside to centre half against his old club - and Targett.

Sandro Tonali played in the middle of the park alongside Brazilian pair Bruno Guimarães and Joelinton.

And Miguel Almirón will line up on the right flank once more, with Anthony Gordon on the left and Alexander Isak operating as a centre forward.

New signing Lewis Hall could make his United debut if called upon from the bench, while Tino Livramento, Jamaal Lascelles and Jacob Murphy are all also included.

Sean Longstaff, Elliot Anderson, Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson are among the substitutes too, as is goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka.
