Dani Ángel's stoppage-time penalty condemned Newcastle United Under-18s to a narrow 1-0 defeat against their Wolverhampton Wanderers counterparts in a Under-18 Premier League North clash which involved three red cards.

Both sides were reduced to ten men in the first-half at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground, with Wolves youngster Josh Gidaree shown his marching orders in the opening stages after illegally halting a Magpies attack before midfielder Matheos Ferreira, a representative of England at under-15 level, was dismissed before the half-hour mark after picking up two yellow cards.

With the full-time whistle nearing, Newcastle defender Harry Powell was sent off in the final minutes after handling a goalbound effort, leaving the Toon Teenagers with nine men, before Ángel dispatched the resulting penalty to secure maximum points for the hosts.

Newcastle United Under-18s: Adam Harrison, Guy Bloomer, (Aaron Epia 69) Henry Johnson, Harry Powell, Jake Durrant, Alex O'Donovan, Darren Palmer (c), Matheos Ferreira, Kacey Wooster (Michael Mills 89), Matthew Taylor (Sam Alabi 75), Josh Donaldson.
