Wilson and Isak nominated for Premier League Player of the Month award

Newcastle United duo Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak have both been nominated for the Premier League's EA Sports Player of the Month award for April.

The attacking pair have been in terrific form for the Magpies this month, contributing heavily in front of goal as Eddie Howe’s side maintain their push for a top-four finish this season.

Despite only starting two matches and playing 309 minutes in April, Wilson netting an outstanding eight goals to break Alan Shearer’s record (7) for most Premier League strikes in a calendar month, as well as providing an assist for Isak’s match winning strike against Brentford.

The Coventry-born striker came off the bench to score United’s second goal in a 2-0 win against Manchester United at St. James’ Park before bagging a brace in a 5-1 thrashing of West Ham United, equalling the club’s biggest Premier League away win in the process, and was also on target against Tottenham, inside a minute of his introduction from the bench, before bagging consecutive doubles against Everton and Southampton.

Isak, who was nominated for the Premier League Player and Goal of the Month for March, has enjoyed another excellent month for the Magpies, with the Swede producing five goal involvements in as many matches.

The 23-year-old netted a composed long-range lob against West Ham before scoring a stunning winner in a 2-1 comeback victory against Brentford.

Isak netted twice in Newcastle’s thrilling 6-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur as the Magpies raced into a 5-0 lead inside the opening 21 minutes of the Premier League clash before producing a wonderful assist for Jacob Murphy’s goal in a 4-1 victory against Everton at Goodison Park.

Wilson and Isak are shortlisted for the award alongside Manchester City pair Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace, Liverpool’s Diogo Jota, Dominic Solanke of AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

Supporters can vote for the winner here with voting closing at 12 noon on Monday, 8th May. The winner will be announced on Friday, 12th May.
