Miguel Almirón has won the Premier League's EA Sports Player of the Month award for October

The 28-year-old was in scintillating form throughout the month, scoring six goals - a double at Fulham, one against Brentford, the winner against Everton, another decisive strike at Tottenham Hotspur and terrific curling effort from distance against Aston Villa.

Almirón's form has helped lift Eddie Howe's side into the top three, with the Magpies remaining unbeaten in October as they won five and drew one of their six matches.

The Paraguayan international beat teammates Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier, who were also shortlisted, to the award, which was decided by a public vote.

Also nominated were Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga, Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland, Granit Xhaka of Arsenal and Leandro Trossard of Brighton.

"I'm really, really happy at receiving this award," Almirón told NUFC TV. "It's lovely on a personal note and a very nice moment for me to win something like this as a player, but it's all about the team.

"In order to get this award, I owe a lot. I'd like to thank all my teammates, the manager and also the fans as well because as you know, I've enjoyed their support and the confidence they've shown in me right from the start of my time here in Newcastle. It's very much down to all those people for this award, and I'm grateful to all of them for it."
