Today’s game is an important one for us as a squad. We know this season has been a mix of feelings and now we have four games to make things right.

Hopefully we can go through these moments together, starting with Brighton this afternoon, to get three points that will help us end the season on a high.

We know that Brighton will be a difficult team today, and we have to be at our best to beat them. They have been on a good run, so we have to be even better than them to get the three points. The gap between us is eight points so if we win it will be five points with three games left. Anything can happen, so we have to believe.

In the last game at Arsenal, we showed the passion, fire, and we fought until the last minutes to try and get at least a draw. When we get the chance to put the ball in the net we must be clinical. The fight and determination was there last week, but like I said after the game it wasn’t good enough for this shirt so we have to improve. Now we have an opportunity to make that right against Brighton.

The fact is that we owe our supporters two good performances in our final two games at St. James’ Park. Of course we have four games in total, but especially at home we owe you two good Newcastle United performances. We’ve been training hard all week to make it happen on Saturday.

Personally, I’m really happy to be back with the team after my injury in these last games. Honestly, it was one of the bad moments of my career, not to be able to help the team. I watched every game while I was back in Brazil, working hard to get back with the lads. I hope I can be back to my best in these final games – 11 weeks without starting was a long, long time. Now I’m fully recovered, feeling even better and training well.

Finally, I want to talk about Kieran Trippier. He was one of the leaders of this new project four and a half years ago and I have learned so much with him, what a guy! He’s a legend for everyone here, I respect him a lot.

The fans will judge him as a player and his many many important games, but I want to say what a guy he is as a person. I always tried to learn at the beginning, listening to what he was saying to the team. I learned from his words and his attitude on the pitch as well. He always gives 100% for the club, for his teammates. I wish him all the best and it has been a pleasure to play alongside him.

Thank you for your support this season, and I know we can count on you again in these last four games.

Howay the Lads!
