Nick Pope, Lewis Hall, Joelinton, Bruno Guimarães, Lewis Miley, Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon come in for Aaron Ramsdale, Kieran Trippier, Tino Livramento, Sandro Tonali, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes and Nick Woltemade.

Barnes has scored four times in his last two games and also netted a brace in November's 2-1 Premier League win over City, so could be a valuable option from the bench for Howe.

Anthony Elanga also returns to the squad after missing the last five matches, but Livramento drops out after he was injured against AFC Bournemouth at the weekend.

United progressed on penalties that day after a 3-3 draw, and will be looking for more cup success here.

Sven Botman starts after celebrating his 26th birthday by signing a new long-term contract with the Magpies on Monday. He makes his 94th appearance in all competitions for United.

For head coach Howe, it's his 750th game as a manager - his first coming in a defeat for Bournemouth at Darlington in January 2009. Howe is aiming to take Newcastle to the Carabao Cup final for a third time in four seasons.

The Magpies, of course, are the current holders courtesy of last March's Wembley win against Liverpool.
