Newcastle United Under-18s fell to a 3-1 defeat away at Derby County in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday afternoon.

After a goalless first-half at the Rams' Football Academy, the Toon teenagers fell behind seven minutes after the restart following Kieran Clarke's strike.

Targeting back-to-back league wins after last weekend's 2-1 win against Burnley, Newcastle suffered a further blow as Remi Harvey doubled Derby's advantage in the 70th minute.

Alfie Seldon, introduced from the bench, pulled a goal back in the closing stages but despite the 16-year-old winger's seventh goal in his last 12 league games at under-18 level, Zayne Blake's stoppage time effort confirmed maximum points for the hosts.

Chris Moore's side, currently situated in fourth place of the Under-18 Premier League North, return to league action on Saturday 25 April when hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy [kick-off 11am BST].

Newcastle United Under-18s: Roman Dowell, Trialist (Jack Patterson 74), Guy Bloomer, Aaron Epia, Henry Johnson (c), Mason Miley, Alfie Hutchison (Luke Gilligan 61), Alex O'Donovan (Alfie Seldon 60), Kacey Wooster (Theo Benjamin 78), Matheos Ferreira, Michael Mills.
