nufc.co.uk takes a look at this weekend's EFL and European action involving the Magpies' loan stars...

Joe White

The Cumbrian youngster was introduced at half-time for the Alex in their League Two trip to Grimsby Town and was on target in the closing stages at Blundell Park but the Mariners held on for a 2-1 victory following goals from Abo Eisa and Danny Rose, leaving Crewe situated in fifth place of the English fourth tier, seven points adrift of leaders Stockport County.

Max Thompson

The Ponteland-born goalkeeper, a representative of England at under-18 level, produced his fourth clean sheet of the 2023/24 campaign for Northampton Town as the Cobblers recorded a 3-0 win against Fleetwood Town.

Jon Brady’s side, who secured promotion to League One last term, occupy 12th spot on 26 points, both ten adrift and above the play-off spots and relegation zone respectively.

Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis

Fraser, capped 26 times by Scotland at senior level, replaced Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz at half-time in a 1-1 draw away at Watford and, despite Ché Adams’ opener for the visitors, Rhys Healey’s stoppage-time equaliser denied the Saints a third Championship victory in a row.

Lewis started the Championship clash at Vicarage Road before the Northern Ireland international was replaced by Giorgi Chakvetadze in the 80th minute.

Yankuba Minteh and Garang Kuol

Minteh completed the opening 66 minutes of Feyenoord’s 3-1 win against FC Volendam in the Eredivisie on Thursday, while Kuol was an unused substitute for the visitors at De Kuip.

Kell Watts

Watts played the opening 64 minutes of Wigan Athletic’s goalless home draw against Lincoln City before the Alnwick-born defender, who won the 2021/22 League One title whilst on loan with the Latics, was substituted in place of Steven Sessegnon.

Matty Bondswell

The Nottingham-born left-back, a representative of England from under-15 to under-18 level, made a cameo appearance from the substitutes’ bench during Newport County’s 2-1 defeat away at Tranmere Rovers.

The former RB Leipzig defender replaced James Clarke in the 83rd minute and picked up a yellow card before Connor Jennings’ late winner condemned the Exiles to a narrow defeat on Merseyside.

Isaac Hayden

Hayden was absent from the matchday squad as Standard Liege were held to a 2-2 draw away at Anderlecht in the Belgian First Division on Sunday.

Jeff Hendrick

Sheffield Wednesday claimed a 1-0 win against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium but Hendrick was not involved for the Owls.

Jay Turner-Cooke

The South Shields-born teenager was an unused substitute for St Johnstone’s 1-1 draw away at Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Cameron Ferguson

The Liverpool-born striker, son of former Magpies forward Duncan, was introduced in the final four minutes of Forfar’s 1-0 away defeat against Spartans in Scottish League Two on Saturday.
