Matthias Jaissle's men have been handed a home game to kick-off their campaign in the competition they won in 2025, with the Championship side set to travel to St. James' Park for the contest.

The Magpies enter the Carabao Cup at the second round stage along with the other 11 Premier League teams not participating in European competitions this season.

The second round is the final stage in which the draw is regionalised, with United's clash with the Baggies one of 11 ties in the northern section.

David Prutton hosted the draw, which was conducted by Jobi McAnuff and Jamie Mackie live on Sky Sports. All second round ties are due to be played on the week beginning Monday, 24th August, with an exact date and kick-off time to be confirmed in due course.

The dates for the rest of the rounds throughout the season are as follows:

Second round: w/c 24th August 2026

Third round: w/c 7th September and w/c 14th September 2026

Fourth round: w/c 26th October 2026

Fifth round: w/c 14th December 2026

Semi-final first leg: w/c 11th January 2027

Semi-final second leg: w/c 1st February 2027

Final: Sunday 21st March 2027
