Scottish forward Larnach arrived at St. James' Park in 1977 following a prolific five-year spell at Clydebank, who he joined after a spell in the Stirlingshire League with Campsie Black Watch.

After 14 appearances in black and white, Larnach left for Motherwell the following year and went on to feature for Ayr United and Stenhousemuir. He finished his career after his second stint at Clydebank in 1986, surpassing the 100-goal mark for the Bankies.

Larnach passed away in the early hours of Friday morning. The thoughts of everyone at Newcastle United are with Mike's family and friends.
