In a collaboration between the Women's team and the official charity arm of the club, girls kicking off their careers through the Foundation's Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) have received donations of boots from Jamaica international, Shania Hayles.
One of the recipients of these boots is Tammy, a talented young player at the ETC inspired by the gesture from her favourite player.
The pair recently met for the first time as Hayles visited the ETC to donate more boots and a signed shirt for Tammy. During their meeting, the forward shared the importance of representation and using her platform to inspire the next generation.
Hayles said: "It's very important that as footballers we give back - anything that I can do I will do.
"For me, when I was younger, I always looked up to players like Rachel Yankey as a woman of colour. That was very important to me and she allowed me to think, 'wow, I can be like her' - it's a privilege for me to do the same for girls like Tammy.
"I'm really pleased she got the boots and she's even scoring in them so that's even better."
International Women's Day is observed annually on March 8th, and the 2026 theme 'Give to Gain' highlights the power of support, generosity and collaboration to expand opportunities for women and girls.
Tammy, part of the girls' ETC under-11s squad, said: "Shania is my favourite player - the way she plays and her playing style inspires me. The first pair of boots she gave me had the Jamaican flag and her initials on them which was special.
"She has been so kind - everyone is so nice and takes care of each other here."
Tammy's family have also been moved by Hayles' generosity, praising her as a true mentor and crediting Hayles with Tammy's increased confidence both on and off the pitch.
Lisa Bell, Senior Inclusive Football Coordinator at Newcastle United Foundation, said: "The positive impact Shania and Newcastle United Women are creating for the next generation of women and girls in football is amazing. Shania has been incredibly generous and has become a true role model for Tammy and all of the girls here.
"Spending time with her favourite player and receiving this donation of boots is transformative for Tammy and as coaches we can see her growing in confidence at every training session with the self-belief Shania has taught her.
"Our Emerging Talent Centre is a pathway feeding into Newcastle United Women so for their players like Shania to take the time to give back to their community is life changing for these young girls."
Newcastle United Foundation's ETC provides development opportunities for under-nine, under-ten, under-11, under-12, under-13, under-14 and under-15 girls, creating an accessible and inclusive women's England talent pathway.
Last month, Newcastle United Women's Emma Kelly visited an ETC session in her first appearance as a Player Ambassador for Newcastle United Foundation.
