Newcastle United Women have completed the signing of Oona Sevenius from Swedish side FC Rosengard.

Oona joins the Magpies having recently represented Finland at the UEFA Women's Euros.

The 21-year-old joined Rosengard from AC Milan in January and went on to make 17 appearances last season, scoring five goals in all competitions. During her time in Italy, she would spend the 2023/24 season on loan at fellow Serie A Women outfit Como.

Oona's impressive goalscoring record at the beginning of her career with PK-35 Vantaa and HJK Helsinki, scoring 16 times in 23 games for the latter, earned her plaudits as one of Finland's most promising talents.

On joining Newcastle United Women, Oona said: "I'm really excited, and it's great to be here. I just can't wait to get started.

"I have a strong willingness to make a difference, I want to win more than anything, and I'm always working very hard.

"This is a very historic club, a great shirt to wear, and I'm very happy to now have it on. I want to get used to this beautiful city and can't wait to get the season started because the games are what it's all about."

Manager Becky Langley said: "Oona is a brilliant addition to our group. At 21, she has already proven that she is able to perform at a top level and showed that for Finland at the Euros this summer.

"She is an explosive forward with physical presence and she has the ability to link the play under pressure and create in advanced areas. We look forward to working with her."

This signing is subject to FA and international clearance.
