Our guide to the international action involving Newcastle United Women stars this summer...

Lois Joel

Wales may be on the brink of elimination from EURO 2025 - but Newcastle United Women midfielder Lois Joel made Magpies history on Wednesday night by becoming the first serving United player to feature at a major tournament.

France won 4-1 at The Kybunpark in St. Gallen on Wednesday (kick-off 8pm BST), netting three times to take the points after Jess Fishlock's leveller.

But Joel stepped off the substitutes bench to make her European Championship finals bow, replacing Ffion Morgan for the final 12 minutes and claiming her place in Magpies history in the process.

Wales will now round off their Group D fixtures with a clash with England at the same venue on Sunday (kick-off 8pm BST).

On Saturday, their first-ever outing at a major tournament ended in defeat as the Netherlands ran out 3-0 winners in their EURO 2025 opener, with Joel remaining among the substitutes for Rhian Wilkinson's side in Lucerne.

Emily Murphy

The Newcastle United Women schemer started for the Republic of Ireland against the USA in Colorado on Thursday, playing the opening 63 minutes as the home side, managed by former England Women head coach Emma Hayes, ran out 4-0 winners.

The two sides met again on Sunday, this time in Cincinnati, but the Girls in Green suffered another 4-0 loss against the four-time World champions, with Murphy starting the friendly before being replaced at half-time.
