Newcastle United Women have been in Subway Players Cup action for the past two games, and Oxtoby was delighted with the improvements she saw in the midweek loss to Everton Women.

The Lasses head into this fixture top of BWSL2, having won all five of their games before the international break, and Oxtoby is confident after a busy week.

Newcastle's manager spoke during her pre-match interview ahead of Sunday's clash.

On the players responding to two defeats...

"We want to win every game, but it's about our processes and taking the learnings forward. I said after Sunday (defeat to Sunderland) that I was disappointed with some bits, but we were so much better on Wednesday.

"You're going to have ups and downs in football, and that first game back after the international break is always a tricky one, but we've worked on those bits and feel like we're ready to go."

On the Everton performance...

"We tweaked a few things and the application to apply that for 81 minutes was really pleasing.

"It's pleasing to see people come into the team and perform really well because that's what it’s all about - giving me a headache."

On Abbie Richardson's first start...

"She's the reason you coach, because of the smile on her face (when she found out she was starting), and she didn't look out of place at all, as I knew she wouldn't.

"She just stepped out there and did her thing, and the future is really bright for her. I spoke to her afterwards, and she said she really enjoyed it."

On recovery...

"The environment we provide is to maximise every drop, and the players are great at that and making sure, from a nutrition point of view and recovery point of view, they're across it.

"Whether you get one session, two sessions or four during the week, you want to be out there on the grass."

On returning to BWSL2 action…

"(I want) a Newcastle performance.

"We want to make sure that we go there (Nottingham) and we perform to the best of our ability for 90 plus minutes, but it's going to take the whole squad to do that."
