The Magpies head to the Stadium of Light this Sunday (2.00pm kick-off) and have been working with local authorities to help fans plan a safe journey to and from the match.
Plans have been made for supporters to make their way to the game in a number of ways, with no restrictions in place like previous years.
SUPPORTER SAFETY
On the day, there will be a much larger police presence around the ground than usual and, to further help accommodate the safe arrival and departure of both sets of fans, police cordons will be in place.
Fans are asked to keep up to date with any information from their respective clubs ahead of the fixture.
Newcastle United has worked with the wider policing operation alongside Newcastle and Sunderland City Councils, Nexus, British Transport Police, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, and the North East Ambulance Service and Sunderland AFC.
METRO SERVICE
There will be no dedicated metro services for Newcastle United Supporters for this fixture. Supporters can make their own way via the metro system to the fixture.
Please note; any Metro trains travelling southbound (between 10am-2pm) towards Sunderland will not stop at Stadium of Light station. Newcastle United fans should use St. Peter’s station to arrive. Newcastle United fans, when getting off at St. Peter’s station, will see a strong a police presence to aid supporters to the away turnstiles.
Metro trains travelling northbound (from South Hylton) will not stop at St. Peter’s Station.
After the game, away fans wanting to use the Metro to get back to Tyneside should follow the lead of Northumbria Police who will be able to direct supporters.
Supporters are encouraged to purchase their metro tickets in advance to avoid queues and delays on the day. Magpie Movers CANNOT be used for this fixture.
BUSES FROM ST. JAMES’ PARK
All supporters travelling to the fixture via the bus service provided by Newcastle United should now have received an email detailing the location and timeframe of the departure. If you have not received this, please email [email protected]. Bus tickets are no longer available to purchase.
Alcohol is not permitted on these buses.
ENTRY TO THE STADIUM OF LIGHT
All individuals, including children, will be subject to search upon entry. Safeguarding measures will be in place to ensure appropriate supervision during searches involving minors.
Coins
The Stadium of Light operates as a cashless venue. Any coins discovered during searches will be placed into sealed collection buckets. These will be donated to Newcastle United Foundation.
Vapes
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited within the stadium. All such devices will be confiscated if found.
Power Banks
Portable charging devices are not permitted.
Pyrotechnics / Fireworks
Possession of any pyrotechnic device will result in denial of entry and referral to Northumbria Police.
Drugs
Only medication prescribed by a medical professional is permitted. Any other substances will lead to refusal of entry and police involvement.
Glass Bottles
Glass containers of any kind including perfume and eau de toilette are not allowed.
Safeguarding
Anyone aged 14 or below must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+.
