Kieran Trippier adorns the front cover of Tuesday’s issue of UNITED – the Magpies’ official matchday programme – as Eddie Howe’s side gear up for a potentially historic night at St. James’ Park.

Over the course of an exclusive, eight-page interview, talisman Trippier reflects on Newcastle’s revival over the past year and stresses that, despite last week’s victory on the South Coast, he and his teammates still have it all to do if they’re to see off Southampton and clinch a League Cup trip to Wembley.

Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves and up-and-coming North Shields DJ Schak both provide columns, while we have a brief catch-up with somebody who knows all about what it takes to make history for the Magpies in the League Cup – ex-frontman Alan Gowling, who was an instrumental part of United’s run to the final of the competition in 1975/76.

Club Historian Paul Joannou looks back at some of the Black ‘n’ Whites’ other double-headed semi-finals over the years, while regular columnist Stan Gate brings all sorts of black and white insignia back to light in Toon Collectables.

There’s news of two new recruits for Newcastle United Women, as well as an update from the club’s academy. Furthermore, there’s ten pages on the visiting Saints, four more for Junior Magpies, boss Howe and skipper Jamaal Lascelles’ thoughts ahead of the game and lots of extra reading material.

UNITED will be on sale around the ground, priced at £3.50.
