22 May 23

Sean Longstaff returns to the starting XI ahead of Newcastle United's Premier League visit of Leicester City on Monday night (kick-off 8pm BST).

Longstaff replaces the injured Joe Willock in the middle of the park, one of two changes from the side which claimed a 4-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday night.

Fellow Geordie, Elliot Anderson, has been handed his second Premier League start of the 2022/23 season, with Joelinton - originally named in the starting line-up - suffering an injury in the warm-up of tonight's fixture.

Nick Pope continues in-between the sticks behind a four-man defence consisting of Kieran Trippier - making his 150th Premier League appearance this evening - as well as Fabian Schär, Sven Botman and Dan Burn.

Bruno Guimarães continues in central midfield while Miguel Almirón and Alexander Isak occupy the respective flanks, with Callum Wilson - making his 200th English top-flight appearance - leading the line.

Howe has a number of attacking options to deploy from the bench, including Allan Saint-Maximin, Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy, who sat out the Magpies’ win against Brighton last week, while 17-year-old Lewis Miley could be line for his senior debut if introduced this evening.

Harrison Ashby, who joined the Magpies from West Ham United in January, is named in a Magpies matchday squad for the first time while Paul Dummett, Matt Targett and Jamal Lewis have also been named on the substitutes’ bench.
