Lewis Miley and Anthony Elanga will both start for Newcastle United on Sunday as Eddie Howe makes two changes to his side for the Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light (kick-off 2pm GMT).

Midfielder Miley has been given the nod to start ahead of Joelinton, while winger Elanga lines up in place of Harvey Barnes in the only two alterations from the 11 named by Howe for Wednesday's Champions League draw at Bayer Leverkusen.

That means Aaron Ramsdale is in goal, with Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall flanking Malick Thiaw and Dan Burn in front of the on-loan goalkeeper.

Miley - scorer of the Magpies' second in that 2-2 midweek draw in Germany - is in from the outset against the Black Cats, with captain Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali alongside him.

And Elanga joins Nick Woltemade for what will be their first derby day in United colours, with support from Anthony Gordon.

Joelinton and Barnes are on the bench, along with Yoane Wissa, Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock and Jacob Ramsey.

John Ruddy is the backup goalkeeper, with Fabian Schär and Alex Murphy the defensive reinforcements.
