Team news from San Siro ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League opener

The 23-year-old will line up at San Siro just a few months after joining the Magpies from the Italian giants as United kick off their first campaign in the competition in two decades.

Head coach Eddie Howe has opted to pair his summer signing with Sean Longstaff in the middle of the park, with Brazilian Bruno Guimarães anchoring the midfield.

And further forward, Alexander Isak is given the nod to start in attack, with Anthony Gordon to his left and Jacob Murphy - making his first start of the season - on the right.

Elsewhere, Nick Pope continues in goal, with Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman and Dan Burn forming a back four.

Two goalkeepers are named on the bench - Loris Karius and teenage stopper Aidan Harris - while Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento, Elliot Anderson and Lewis Miley are among the more youthful replacements.

There is also experience on the bench in the shape of Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Targett, and firepower in the form of Harvey Barnes, Miguel Almirón and Callum Wilson.
