Kieran Trippier returns to the Newcastle United starting XI for the Magpies' Champions League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise (5:45pm BST).

The former England international comes into the side with Tino Livramento sidelined after he was stretchered off against Arsenal in the Premier League at the weekend.

Anthony Elanga also starts, replacing Jacob Murphy in the team which ran out against the Gunners three days ago.

Anthony Gordon scored in United's narrow defeat to Barcelona on MD1. The last Newcastle player to net in their first two matches of a major European campaign was Patrick Kluivert in the UEFA Cup in 2004/05.

Fabian Schär returns to the bench after observing protocols and Max Thompson is one of two substitute goalkeepers, but Eddie Howe only names 11 substitutes rather than the allowed 12.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Joelinton, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon, Malick Thiaw, Anthony Elanga, Nick Woltemade, Dan Burn, Bruno Guimarães (c)

Substitutes: Aaron Ramsdale, Max Thompson, Fabian Schär, Harvey Barnes, Emil Krafth, William Osula, Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock, Lewis Hall, Alex Murphy, Lewis Miley
