Eddie Howe names an unchanged starting XI for Newcastle United's first home game of the 2025/26 season, against champions Liverpool.

The Magpies head coach has opted to name the same team which earned a 0-0 draw at Aston Villa on the opening day - although new arrival Jacob Ramsey and fit-again Joe Willock comes onto the bench, with Emil Krafth and Seung-soo Park making way.

Anthony Elanga makes his competitive St. James' Park bow in black and white, while fellow summer signings Ramsey, Aaron Ramsdale and Malick Thiaw are all on standby for Newcastle debuts should they be called into action from the dugout.

Nick Pope continues in goal after keeping a clean sheet at Villa Park, while Bruno Guimarães wears the captain's armband. He, of course, lifted the Carabao Cup in March after United beat the Reds 2-1 at Wembley.

Anthony Gordon is looking to score in this fixture for the third season in a row.
