Diame – a summer signing from Hull City – has struck five times in 22 appearances for United this term, while Saivet is midway through a season-long loan at French outfit Saint-Etienne.

The pair are among a clutch of English-based players set to feature for the Lions of Teranga, who take on Algeria, Tunisia and Zimbabwe in the competition’s Group B.

Elsewhere, Chancel Mbemba has been named in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s provisional squad of 31, with the defender likely to make the final cut.

The 22-year-old started both of the Leopards’ recent World Cup qualifying wins over Guinea and Libya, Florent Ibenge’s side emerging as strong contenders for a place at Russia 2018.

Official confirmation of the Ghanaian players who will take part in the biennial showpiece is set to come through on Monday, though it is almost certain that winger Christian Atsu – closing in on his 50th cap for the Black Stars – will be among those called up by Avram Grant.

Achraf Lazaar – a second half substitute for the Magpies against Nottingham Forest last night – has not been named in Morocco’s squad, the Atlas Lions now managed by Frenchman Herve Renard – twice a Nations Cup-winning boss.
