The 17-year-old, capable of playing as a right-back or centre-back, joined United's youth set-up at the age of ten after playing for his local boys club, Hetton Juniors.

The Newbottle-born youngster, who cites Nemanja Vidić as his footballing idol, captained Newcastle's under-18s side towards the end of the previous campaign.
