Toon in training: United players return for first day of pre-season

Usually the first day back is a sunny summer's day, but it was raining heavily at the Magpies' Benton base as the players reported in groups for testing, some gym exercises and a running session.

The likes of captain Jamaal Lascelles, last season's leading scorer Callum Wilson, and long-serving defender Paul Dummett were all involved, as were Freddie Woodman, Yoshinori Muto, Kell Watts and Florian Lejeune, who were all on loan elsewhere last term.
