Loan watch: Six of the best for electric Elliot

Written by Dan King

Elliot Anderson scored his sixth goal for Bristol Rovers - and his third in the last three games - as the Gas won 3-1 at League Two promotion rivals Port Vale on Easter Sunday.

The 19-year-old joined Joey Barton's side on loan in January and has become increasingly influential - he also has three assists to his name as well as his half-a-dozen goals - as Rovers have steadily climbed the table.

And Anderson made another vital contribution at Vale Park, equalising after his side had gone behind inside the opening two minutes. Paul Coutts' pass was good, finding the Newcastle youngster as he raced into the box, but the finish was superb, with Anderson's shot flying into the roof of the net.

Backed by 2,222 travelling fans, Barton's side went on to score twice more through James Connolly and Ryan Loft, with Anderson playing the full game and picking up a yellow card.

In the same division, Matty Longstaff played 90 minutes for Mansfield as they lost 1-0 at Carlisle United while Joe White started for Hartlepool, claiming an assist for Bryn Morris with a cross before coming off in the 77th minute of a 2-1 defeat to Rochdale.

Meanwhile, Freddie Woodman was an unused substitute as AFC Bournemouth won 3-0 at Coventry to move within touching distance of a return to the Premier League, while Jeff Hendrick missed QPR's win over Derby with an injury.
