The Magpies went into the North London clash firmly united after a tough run of fixtures of late - and started on the front foot as they applied early pressure.
Malick Thiaw found the net in the closing stages of the first-half to open the scoring, moments after Joe Willock had seen an effort chalked off for a narrow offside.
Archie Gray levelled the tie from a corner routine in the second period but Jacob Ramsey had the final say, popping up with his first Newcastle goal to seal all three points for his side. Tottenham, in the hours after the game, took the decision to relieve Thomas Frank of his duties as manager.
