The Newcastle United defender's stunning strike reduced the deficit at the Coventry Building Society Arena in the Magpies' eventual 4-1 defeat.

Botman's effort - his fifth goal for United - was a spectacular one, a left-footed drive arrowed into the roof of the net from outside the box.

The Dutchman is one of eight players nominated, along with Manchester City duo Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki and Tottenham Hotspur pair James Maddison and Mathys Tel.

Abdoul Outtara of Ipswich Town, Evanilson of Bournemouth and Diego Gómez of Brighton & Hove Albion complete the shortlist.

United fans can vote for Botman by clicking here. Voting will open at 1pm GMT on Thursday, 5th November and a winner will be announced on Friday, 13th November.
