The 18-year-old midfielder put pen to paper on a deal with the Magpies before re-joining the Süper Lig outfit, who currently occupy second place in the Turkish top-flight, on loan for the duration of the 2026/27 season.

Diabaté gained his full professional debut in April's 2-0 away win against Galatasaray in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals, playing against the likes of Leroy Sané, Mauro Icardi and İlkay Gündoğan, and the African teenager is keen to progress further after sampling his first taste of senior action.

Conducting his first interview as a Magpies player at St. James' Park, Diabaté told newcastleunited.com: "I'm delighted to be at Newcastle and to sign for this massive club which everyone knows about.

"I wanted to play for a big club with an interesting sporting project. I'm a young player and I want to continue my development, showing the world what I am capable of doing. That's why I wanted to sign here. I also know the Newcastle supporters are fantastic and I will give everything I've got to make them happy.

"I'm a player who likes to keep things simple. I like to press, I have character and, above all, I don't like to lose. I always want to leave the pitch having won."

Diabaté recorded seven competitive appearances at senior level last term, winning five matches as well as grabbing an assist in Gençlerbirliği's Turkish semi-final tie against eventual winners Trabzonspor.

The promising teenager is hopeful of a successful loan spell with the Ankara-based outfit, who claimed a 2-1 win against Fenerbahçe in their opening league fixture of the current campaign, with Diabaté playing the opening 75 minutes against the likes of Champions League winning duo Marco Asensio and N'Golo Kanté.

The African youngster added: "This season, my personal objectives are to play as many matches as I can in Turkey and to put in some big performances, continuing to improve and progress so when I come back to England in June, I can be at my very best.

"Last season wasn't easy at first. It was a lot of hard work to get to that stage. I had to really fight to get my chance to break through professionally and make my debut, playing against the likes of Galatasaray and some big players.

"I wanted to get out there and play every match, put in lots of effort and work hard. Last season is a one, I can say, I will never forget and it's something that makes me emotional to think about."

Diabaté's bright displays at club level were rewarded with a first international call-up for Guinea in May, making his senior debut in the latter stages of a 1-0 friendly defeat against Northern Ireland at Windsor Park.

After gaining his first minutes on the international stage last summer, the Guinean is hopeful of making further appearances for Syli National, with his country aiming to book their place at next summer's Africa Cup of Nations finals from a qualification group involving South Africa, co-hosts Kenya and Eritrea.

"It was something I was very proud to do," Diabaté explained with a bright grin on his face. "My parents were so happy to see me get called up for my country. It was a dream, quite simply, to be able to play for my national team.

"Some big players have played for them before and, when I received that call, there was no doubt I wanted to say yes. It was a big experience and the coach gave me some good advice and I enjoyed it.

"Unfortunately, we lost 1-0. I got to play 15 minutes but, certainly moving forward, I hope to play again for Guinea and try to help them qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations."

Diabaté, who cites three-time Premier League winner Yaya Touré as his footballing idol, will be aiming to become the first player from his native homeland to represent Newcastle United and is determined to carry out a successful spell at St. James' Park.

"I'm extremely proud to be the first Guinean to be joining Newcastle," he added. "I'll give everything I have for the people of Guinea as well as Newcastle.

"I know Newcastle is an amazing club and there have been a lot of big players who have been here in the past. I know players like Allan Saint-Maximin and Hatem Ben Arfa who have played here in the past. I know that the fans are absolutely amazing and that they give everything.

"My main aim at Newcastle will be to play and show people what I am capable of doing. Above all, I want to help the team win and why not play in the Champions League, become champions of England or win a European title. Newcastle are a massive team who deserve to lift trophies and I'll certainly fight to help the club achieve that."
