FA Youth Cup action continues for our Under-18s on Thursday night as we host Crystal Palace in the fourth round stage at Whitley Park (kick-off 7pm GMT).

The Toon teenagers beat Portsmouth 5-2 in last month's third round tie and have been rewarded with a home clash against their Eagles counterparts, with the winner facing an away trip to Stevenage in round five.

Kacey Wooster, who joined the Magpies from Southend United as a 15-year-old, admitted "it would mean a lot" to progress further in the prestigious youth competition.

"We're looking forward to it," the Romford-born striker told newcastleunited.com. "We know it's going to be a good test for us. We want to test ourselves against the best, give ourselves the best opportunity to get through and try to reach the final of the competition and win it.

"It's massive for us. It's a big opportunity to win a trophy. We've had a couple of other cup competitions which haven't gone our way so this is the last tournament and a chance to win together as a team.

"It would mean a lot, both for us and the club, to go on a positive run. There's a big incentive to reach the next round. We want to play in the stadiums, having lots of fans supporting us and being a team that people look at and are impressed by."

Wooster has recorded five goals and three assists in eight games at under-18 level so far this season as well as making his Under-21s debut in August's Premier League 2 visit of Chelsea.

The 17-year-old forward has been pleased with his goalscoring form this term and hopes the young Magpies can repeat a "good team performance" as shown in their convincing victory over Portsmouth.

"The start to the season was good for me," he added. "I feel like I need to score a couple more but that will come with more games. All the boys, and not just myself, have played their part in it.

"I've been up and down with the under-21s, too, so I'm trying to keep going with that. We've got a good team spirit and are playing more as a team, which helps us a lot but also makes it harder for the opposition to play against. We're doing really well so far this season.

"Against Portsmouth, you could see the team spirit was there from all of the boys and we got the job done. We know the next round will be a harder test but we did what we needed to do and played really well.

"We know what we're capable of and the lads are confident going into the game knowing that we can do the same."

Admission for Thursday's FA Youth Cup fourth round tie is free for season ticket holders, otherwise it's £3 for adults and £1 concessions.
