Newcastle United Women's Lois Joel has been shortlisted for the Barclays Women's Super League 2 October Goal of the Month award.

The Wales international's sensational strike rescued a point for the Magpies in their 2-2 draw with Bristol City earlier this month, and earned her a nomination for the monthly gong.

It was a stunning effort from the 26-year-old, who let fly from 25 yards to earn the draw for Becky Langley's side at Gateshead International Stadium.

Joel also netted with a similarly spectacular effort in United's Subway Women's League Cup draw and subsequent penalty shoot-out defeat to Manchester City on Sunday at the same venue.

She is nominated alongside Jodie Hutton of Charlton Athletic, Georgie Freeland of Portsmouth, Hollie Olding and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah of Nottingham Forest and Vicky Losada of Bristol City.

Voting opens on Monday, 20th October at 12pm BST and will close on Wednesday, 22nd October at 10am BST. Newcastle United Women supporters can vote for Joel by clicking here.
