Becky Langley spoke ahead of Newcastle United Women's second Subway Women's League Cup match of the season, and the first at the Gateshead International Stadium.

Earlier this week, the club announced the women’s team's new training base at Cochrane Park, which has a state-of-the-art gym, staff offices and three new grass pitches.

Following another late comeback last Sunday, Langley wants to see that momentum carried into a good test this weekend, albeit with a slight shift in mindset.

Here are a few of the boss' thoughts ahead of Sunday:

On the move to Cochrane Park…

"It's fantastic being at Cochrane Park, and I think the biggest thing for us is playing on some world-class training pitches, which have been the real standout for us since moving here.

"Having the state-of-the-art gym has really enhanced us from a strength and conditioning perspective. The groundsmen have been excellent in trying to keep the pitches as good as the ones at Benton and St. James’'Park, and we're lucky to have these great pitches to train on.

"To have our under-16s and under-21s at the same training base shows good progress from the academy through to the first team."

On building on previous performances…

"I think it's really important in these moments to show strength and composure in my role as the manager, but also the players as well.

"We keep focusing on some great performances, and we've got a really exciting game against Man City to get our teeth stuck into this weekend."

On preparing for the visit of Manchester City…

"It's a brilliant test for ourselves, and we get to welcome some world-class players who have been our England Lionesses to Gateshead. I'm looking forward to Sunday, testing ourselves, competing and seeing where we are on the journey against Man City.

"It's a bit of a shift in mindset from us because I think we go into the game as underdogs, which relieves a bit of pressure. It's a good opportunity for the players to showcase themselves and really get after them."
