Paul Tierney will be the referee for Newcastle United's Premier League trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2pm GMT).

Matthias Jaissle's side travel to the capital aiming to return to winning ways and this will be the first time Tierney has officiated a game involving the Magpies this season.

The Wigan-born whistler, who refereed the 2023 Emirates FA Cup final, oversaw two of Newcastle's Premier League fixtures last term.

The 45-year-old was the man in the middle for United's 1-0 away win against Chelsea in March and booked four players at Stamford Bridge, including goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and Lewis Hall.

He was also in charge of Newcastle's 1-1 draw away at Nottingham Forest and handed out two yellow cards at the City Ground, booking no visiting players.
