Magpies first-team players wrapped up the season by donating their previously worn training boots to Newcastle United Foundation’s Walking Football programme, encouraging locals of all ages to follow their passion for playing the game.

Sven Botman, Lewis Miley and Alex Murphy were among a group of players who gifted boots alongside a personal letter to walking footballers. Each note thanked the Foundation participants for their support, and encouraged them to keep pulling on the boots for many years to come.

Their gesture came ahead of World Environment Day in June, as part of the club and Foundation’s boot recycling drive. The drive assists families in the North East and makes football more accessible, while promoting a more sustainable future.

PLAY YOUR PART

You can join the players and get involved by donating your pre-loved boots to the community, with more than 150 pairs re-homed throughout the 2025/26 season.

A permanent collection point is positioned at the Official Club Store at St. James' Park, where you are encouraged to donate gently used grass and astroturf boots, in both children's and adult sizes.
