The Australian international makes the switch to the North East after most recently spending time with Portland Thorns in the NWSL.
She made 20 appearances while with the Thorns having joined them from San Diego Wave in March 2025. The 25-year-old won the NWSL Challenge Cup in her time with the wave.
Her move to America set a record for the biggest transfer fee received by a club in the A-League Women when she departed Melbourne City.
Torpey made 48 appearances in Melbourne, twice being named in the PFA Team of the Season for her performances at full-back. Prior to that, she spent the first years of her professional career at Brisbane Roar.
The defender has 21 caps for the Matildas, and was part of their squad for the Olympics in Paris in 2024.
On signing for the Magpies, Torpey said: "It's very surreal being here and getting it all sorted, but I'm very excited to get started.
"I've had a little break now, and I'm excited to get my boots back on and get out there for the club. It is a big second half of the season, so I'm excited to work. With Newcastle, you can tell they are growing quickly so it's an exciting project."
Manager, Tanya Oxtoby, said: "We're delighted to be adding Kaitlyn to our squad, she is a proven international full-back and joins having spent the last few years in one of the best leagues in the world.
"She is fast, dynamic and loves to support in attack and defence, so we are all looking forward to working with her."
This signing is subject to FA and international clearance.
