Ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash away at Paris Saint-Germain (kick-off 8pm GMT), here is what's needed for Newcastle United to reach the competition's last 16 stage...

The Magpies currently sit in seventh place on 13 points and have already secured a top-half finish amongst the play-off teams if they were to slip out of the top eight.

This means United would be away from home in the first leg of any play-off tie, which would take place on either Tuesday, 17th February or Wednesday, 18th February.

A win for Eddie Howe's side, unbeaten in their last two encounters with PSG, could secure a top-four finish were two of Real Madrid, Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur to drop points in their respective fixtures.

A draw against PSG could still be enough for Newcastle to progress into the last 16 stage. However, they will be relying on Tottenham to lose away at Eintracht Frankfurt and six of Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Sporting Lisbon, Manchester City, Atlético Madrid, Atalanta, Inter Milan and Juventus failing to win their matches.
