Michael Salisbury will referee Newcastle United's Premier League game at Leeds United on Monday (kick-off 8pm BST).

The Magpies head to Elland Road looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season against Daniel Farke's side, with Salisbury handed the task of keeping order in Yorkshire.

The former PE teacher's father, Graham, was a Football League referee who only hung up his whistle in 2021 - the same year his son, Michael, took charge of the delayed FA Vase final between Consett and Hebburn Town at Wembley.

Salisbury has also been a Premier League referee since 2021. He oversaw one of United's games against Leeds last term too: the frantic 4-3 victory at St. James' Park in January, in which Harvey Barnes fired home a dramatic last-gasp winner.

On that occasion, he dished out five yellow cards, including three to United players - Malick Thiaw, Joelinton and Anthony Gordon.
