Malick Thiaw admitted that Newcastle United failed to create enough chances in Sunday's 0-0 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

But the Germany international defender was pleased to help the Magpies keep a first away clean sheet since September as the 'prime time' of the 2025/26 campaign moves closer.

United are still in three cup competitions and challenging for a top four finish in the Premier League. So while Thiaw was disappointed to only pick up one point at Molineux, and highlighted some areas of improvement, he remained level-headed after the game - with attention now turning to the Champions League and a midweek clash with PSV.

Here are some of his post-match thoughts:

On the match at Molineux...

"It was a really tough game. Wolverhampton defended really low, with a low block, and it was difficult to create something, even though I think we should have created a little bit more. The last touch, the last moment, was missing a bit today to win the game.

"We have to analyse what we can do better because it can happen that an opponent just stays deep. I think we still have the quality to create something, so we should look what we can do better."

On a clean sheet on the road...

"The clean sheet was really important for us. We have to keep going like this and hopefully (there are) more clean sheets to come."

On United's current Premier League form...

"I think we should be disappointed in the result but we shouldn't take it too far because we took ten points out of 12 in the last games of the Premier League.

"We're still in the race so we just have to continue to work hard and improve even more to win games like this.

"We're now in the middle of the season - soon, the prime time is coming. Right now, it's really important, this time of the season."

On Wednesday night's Champions League visit of PSV...

"It's been a long time since we played Champions League, so we're really looking forward to playing Champions League again, at home - and hopefully with a win."
