The Magpies head into the reverse fixture needing to overcome a 2-0 deficit after tasting defeat at St. James' Park last month.

Eddie Howe's side have been navigating a busy run of testing fixtures since, meaning time on the training pitch has been limited.

However, the United boss had his senior stars at Benton earlier this week in preparation for the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

The likes of Nick Woltemade, Yoane Wissa, Jacob Murphy, Sven Botman, Aaron Ramsdale and Alex Murphy were among the first-team players in action, while a number of youngsters were also called up.

Leo Shahar, Aidan Harris, Miodrag Pivas, Scott Bailey, Mason Miley, Baran Yildiz, Park Seung-Soo and Dylan Charlton were all involved from the under-21s, earning the chance to impress in front of Howe and his staff.
