October saw the Magpies continue their unbeaten start to the WSL2 season, with a 3-0 win away at Durham and a draw away at Nottingham Forest. Tanya Oxtoby's side were beaten twice in the Subway Players Cup but head into the back end of 2026 in a positive place. Hildur Antonsdóttir netted her first goal for the club in the early October win over Durham Women, with Jordan Nobbs also joining her on the scoresheet.

The latter was starting her first game of the season that day and would also help herself to an assist in the comeback at Forest, teeing up Martha Thomas' equaliser.

Thomas herself is also on the October shortlist after enjoying a fine start to the campaign. The forward found the net in both WSL2 games of the month - and now has six goals in four games so far this term.
