The Magpies are into the third round of the Carabao Cup following a 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion at St. James' Park.

United fell behind thanks to Isaac Price's 19th-minute free-kick but were level before the interval as Bazoumana Touré bundled the ball home from close range.

New signing Amar Dedić looked solid throughout the second round tie, and was particularly impressive for Touré's goal, whipping in a dangerous ball from the edge of the box.

Harvey Barnes emerged from the bench at half-time and wasted no time firing Newcastle in front shortly after coming on. The winger would go on to find the net for a second time later in the half, restoring the home side's advantage in the 81st-minute.

In the middle of the park, Sean Steur looked at home under the St. James' Park lights, controlling the play well until his withdrawal midway through the second-half.

At the back, Sven Botman comfortably dealt with West Brom's attack throughout, sweeping up any danger that came his way.
