The Magpies found the net twice, early on in the second-half, after a frustrating opening 45 minutes in South East London.

William Osula wasted no time putting his side in the lead following the restart, poking home from close range in the 47th-minute.

Harvey Barnes would join him on the scoresheet soon after, sweeping a first-time effort beyond Palace goalkeeper Walter Benítez following a fine cross by Amar Dedić.

The right-back was impressive on his return to the first-team, while in the middle of the park it was Nico González who ran the show throughout the tie.

At the back, Lukáš Horníček made some top saves to keep Palace at bay - and give United a huge win on the road.
