On the back of two goals in two games, Beth Lumsden's confidence is high at the moment - despite playing in not one but two new positions already this season.

Newcastle United Women are in the midst of three games in seven days, with Charlton Athletic Women next up this Sunday at the Gateshead International Stadium, and Lumsden is keen for everyone to continue 'trusting the process'.

United came from behind to claim a late point against Sheffield United Women in their previous home fixture at the GIS, and after back-to-back away matches, Lumsden knows how great it will be to return home.

"We know we've got to put things right," a determined Lumsden admitted. "Our last home game wasn't good enough, and hopefully this time we can give our fans something to cheer about.

"We're all confident going into Sunday, trusting the process, and I feel like we're in a good place. Of course, we need a win this weekend and hopefully this is the game where we can turn things around.

"I'm really enjoying playing up-front because it means I'm closer to goal, and that's where I feel like I do my best work. But as long as I'm on the pitch, then I'm pretty happy."

United's number 26 is only five goals shy of her total of seven league strikes from last season, showing the rich vein of form Lumsden currently finds herself in.

Now into her third season in black and white, Lumsden knows what it will take to get things ticking again for the Lasses and believes every tough moment has allowed the team to learn and develop.

"When you don't win games, then you're learning, and we've certainly been able to do so from the past few games," she told newcastleunited.com.

"Going into the game, we're fully focused on picking up the three points, getting back on track and ensuring our fans are enjoying coming to watch us play."

Lumsden has already played as a wing-back and a striker this season, both new positions to the 26-year-old, but it's something she's been able to take in her stride and is now thriving at the top end of the pitch.

"It's obviously different to what I'm used to and playing on the wing like I did last season, but there are some similarities," she explained.

"I've still been able to pick the ball up facing goal and run at defenders, which is something I love to do, but to be honest, whether I'm scoring goals, getting assists or not, I'm just happy to be on the pitch and help the team win games."
