Last season, the competition was in a Group Stage format and previously named the Subway Women’s League Cup.
For the 2026/27 campaign, it is changing to a Swiss-style league format and United will play at least six fixtures, three at home and three away.
United kick off their League Cup campaign away to Barclays Women’s Super League side Aston Villa Women on Wednesday 30 September at Keys Park (kick-off 7.30pm BST)
The Lasses' first home outing in the competition comes in the form of a Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland on Sunday 18 October, which will take place at the Gateshead International Stadium (kick-off 2pm BST).
That is then followed by back-to-back away fixtures against Everton on Wednesday 21 October at Goodison Park (kick-off 7pm BST) and then a trip to fellow North East side Durham on Sunday 1 November at Mariners Park (kick-off 12pm GMT).
Tanya Oxtoby’s side then round off their league phase with a home match at the GIS against fellow WSL2 side Nottingham Forest on Sunday 22 November (kick-off 2pm GMT) before a home match against last season’s defeated finalists, Manchester United, at St. James’ Park on Wednesday 16 December (kick-off 7pm GMT).
Ticket details will be announced in due course.
