Finneran made his professional debut at the tender age of 15, becoming Rovers' youngest ever debutant after featuring in an Emirates FA Cup third round tie against Cambridge United in January 2024.
Eligible to represent Republic of Ireland through his Irish father, the central midfielder received his first senior call-up with the Boys in Green before being handed his senior bow in May 2026 during a 5-0 win against Grenada in Murcia, Spain.
Finneran, who captained his country at last year's Under-17 World Cup finals in Qatar, told newcastleunited.com: "It's a great achievement for me and my family but I think it makes you want to get more of it and work even harder to get more.
"It doesn't feel real to be honest. I got told I'd be coming on and then I was on the pitch. I don't know how to explain it - it all felt a bit surreal in the moment but I really enjoyed the experience.
"It was a really good performance, especially in the second half, and when you're winning games by that amount, you must be playing well and it made the debut even better."
Finneran made his first public outing for the Magpies' first team during a pre-season friendly clash against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, playing in front of over 39,000 fans at St. James' Park.
He joined League One side Notts County for the duration of the 2026/27 season and made his first professional start during the Magpies' league visit of Burton Albion.
