Toon in training: Focussed on the Foxes

Newcastle United head to Leicester City on Sunday afternoon for their penultimate Premier League fixture before October’s international break.

United’s trip to the King Power Stadium (4:30pm kick-off) provides Steve Bruce’s side with an opportunity to earn a second league win of the season, after last weekend’s goalless draw at home to Brighton.

And in Wednesday’s training session, they were boosted by the sight of returning defender Florian Lejeune joining in with the group as he continues to work his way back to full fitness following a second serious knee injury.

Winger Allan Saint-Maximin also trained, while forward Andy Carroll – who made his second Magpies debut as a substitute in Saturday’s stalemate with the Seagulls – was in action as Bruce’s men prepared for the trip to the high-flying Foxes, who currently sit third in table.

Newcastle’s last visit to Leicester back in April ended in a 1-0 win for United, with Ayoze Pérez – now a Leicester player – on target.

Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery from the Magpies’ Benton training centre.
