This year’s Inside Matters campaign introduces Together Against Suicide, a powerful new initiative aimed at supporting fans affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts.
Developed in partnership with suicide prevention charity Samaritans, the initiative is backed by all 20 Premier League clubs and aims to raise awareness of the resources available to those in need. Samaritans offers free, 24/7 emotional support across the UK.
The campaign is driven by heightening statistics: someone in the UK dies by suicide every 90 minutes, and one in four people have experienced suicidal thoughts.
To further the cause, the Premier League has created an online hub which includes information on signs and symptoms to look for if you are concerned about how someone is feeling. The hub offers support and referral information to both domestic and international services.
Additionally, the League is funding club subscriptions to R;pple, a digital tool that discreetly intercepts harmful online searches and signposts users to free, 24/7 mental health support.
