Oxtoby was appointed as United's new manager on November 24th before she took in the Lasses' last home match in the Subway Women’s League Cup against Everton Women, but is now excited to be in the dugout instead of the stands.
Ahead of Newcastle's first home league match at the Gateshead International Stadium since October 12th, Oxtoby was keen to talk up the role United's supporters will have to play, as well as laying down a challenge to her squad.
Here are some of her key thoughts ahead of Monday evening's game...
On her first few sessions as Newcastle manager…
"It's been a whirlwind, but it's been fantastic. Everyone has been really welcoming. I know that everyone has massive ambitions for this club, and I think we've seen that out on the grass these last couple of days."
On being back in club management…
"I've missed being on the grass with the players every day, and I think from my perspective, it's the one thing that gives me the biggest smile and buzz. I want to help players get better and I want to help staff get better, so to be in and around people every single day is a privilege."
On her main message to the players and the improvements she's already seen
"My main message has been to be brave but also be forward-thinking and embrace the chaos, because football isn't pretty all the time.
"Anyone who knows me and knows the way I like to coach, I like to challenge the players in that way, and we've started that process over the last couple of sessions. I think the players are really embracing it, enjoying it, and we've seen improvement already."
On the role Newcastle's supporters have to play this season…
"We want to give them something to cheer about, and we want to pick our moments to make sure we're putting teams under pressure, and I think the fans will be really pleased to see the girls apply that.
"Our fans are vital to everything we do, and I felt it when I met them before the Everton game. They blew me away, so I'm really excited to get back out in front of them.
"They help the players, and I know the players speak so highly of the atmosphere they create, so I'm really looking forward to getting back out there on Monday night and hopefully giving them something really exciting to get behind."
