Everything you need to know ahead of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 6.

Newcastle United have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to bring you Fantasy Premier League (FPL) hints, tips and advice throughout the 2026/27 season.

Scout will be offering their expertise every Gameweek, which could prove invaluable in helping you win your mini-leagues.

Best of Newcastle in Gameweek 5

Gameweek 5 may seem like an eon ago after a bumper international break but there are happy memories for owners of Newcastle players to look back on.

The Magpies triumphed 2-1 over Hull City three weeks ago, with Joe Willock (£5.0m) and Lewis Hall (£5.3m) on target.

Hall is now Newcastle’s leading Fantasy points-scorer of 2026/27 after a double-digit haul against the Tigers, while Willock grabbed his second goal of the campaign.

Harvey Barnes (£6.1m) continued his own stellar start to the season by assisting both strikes. No FPL midfielder can better Barnes’ total of four attacking returns in home fixtures this season.

It wasn’t just Hall who delivered at the back. All four of Matthias Jaissle’s rearguard, including Fantasy midfielder Lewis Miley (£5.5m), banked defensive contribution points in Gameweek 5. Miley was ably filling in at right-back in the absence of Amar Dedic (£4.5m) and Tino Livramento (£4.9m).

Spotlight on... Sven Botman

We’ve shone the spotlight on Hall and Barnes in recent weeks, and it’s hard to argue against the case for those two if you’re in the market for a Newcastle asset. Fantasy managers agree: they’re the fifth- and eighth-most bought players of Gameweek 6.

But it’s also worth highlighting the sterling defensive work being done by Sven Botman (£5.0m) of late.

Of all Premier League defenders (not just those on Tyneside), not a single one can better Botman’s total of 59 defensive contributions.

Reaching 10 clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles (CBITs) in a match gets defenders an extra two Fantasy points, and Botman has done this on three occasions already this season. He was agonisingly close to making it four, finishing one shy of the threshold in Gameweek 3.

With the league’s lowest scorers up next, there’ll be hope that Botman can supplement his usual defensive contributions with a clean sheet in Gameweek 6.

One thing worth mentioning is that club captain Dan Burn (£4.8m) is thought to be not too far away from a comeback, so Jaissle will soon have a very welcome selection headache between two seasoned performers for the left-sided centre-half role.

FPL transfer market

Away from Newcastle, Fantasy managers are still being enticed by Brighton players ahead of domestic football’s return.

Three of the four-most-bought players of Gameweek 6 are in Fabian Hurzeler’s squad: Pascal Gross (£5.9m), Charalampos Kostoulas (£5.6m) and Maxim De Cuyper (£5.0m).

Gross has already banked seven attacking returns this season, while De Cuyper - who is listed as an FPL defender - is benefitting from an advanced role on Albion’s left wing and a share of set-piece-taking duties.

Kostoulas might be a new name to many but the young Greek striker is in a superb run of form, delivering back-to-back double-digit hauls in Fantasy and scoring in the EFL Cup in between.

Sunderland away may not be the easiest of tests but after the Seagulls dismantled the reigning champions 3-0 in Gameweek 5, no fixture will hold any fear.

Kevin Schade (£6.2m) is the filling in the Brighton sandwich in the Fantasy transfer market. Bought by almost 500,000 managers ahead of Saturday’s deadline, he’ll be facing an Aston Villa side ranked 19th for expected goals conceded (xGC) this weekend.
