The England international has been in positive goalscoring form this month, netting three times in as many league fixtures.

The 25-year-old scored from the penalty spot in the Magpies' 2-1 victory against Manchester United before bagging the winning goal in Newcastle's 1-0 away win against Chelsea, the club's first victory at Stamford Bridge since 2012.

Gordon took his goalscoring tally to 17 across all competitions so far this season after opening the scoring in last weekend's 2-1 defeat against rivals Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby.

Nominated alongside Gordon for the award are Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United, Everton's James Garner, Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest, Fulham's Alex Iwobi, David Raya of Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion's Danny Welbeck.
