The Academy quartet, consisting of Michael Mills, Miodrag Pivaš, Vakhtang Salia and Kyran Thompson, have yet to feature in a competitive fixture for the Magpies but have all been named on the bench for Saturday's league clash against the Tigers.
Mason Miley, who was included in a Premier League matchday squad for the first time during Monday's 4-1 defeat against Leeds United, is also named as a substitute this afternoon.
Mills, who has represented England at Under-17 level, joined United's youth set-up from Port Vale as a 14-year-old before, on his 17th birthday, signing his first professional contract with the Magpies.
On signing his first pro deal in February, Mills told newcastleunited.com: “I'm pleased because it shows all the work I've been putting in over the years has come together to then be offered a contract. I know the work's not finished and I have to keep going.
"The move to Newcastle has helped me mature a lot. There's been a lot of ups and downs with two injuries (toe and hamstring) that have never happened to me before.
"They have helped me grow mentally and persevere through difficult moments. I've developed quite easily on the pitch and I think I'm getting closer to Newcastle's playing style."
Pivaš enjoyed a positive pre-season campaign at senior level, making his first senior start for the Magpies in a pre-season friendly win against Valencia, playing the opening 67 minutes at the Mestalla Stadium in Spain.
The Serbian defender, capable of playing as a centre-back or full-back, then made his first outings at St. James' Park, appearing from the bench in respective friendly fixtures against Bayer 04 Leverkusen and RC Strasbourg.
"I was very proud," the 21-year-old explained. "It was an incredible moment to play with the first-team for the first time and I hope that I can play more often in the future.
"It was a brilliant atmosphere playing against a typical Spanish team in Valencia. It was great when I saw my name in the starting line-up the day before - I couldn't believe it! It was an experience I won't forget.
"To play at St. James' Park was definitely the biggest moment of my career, playing in front of such a great crowd. The main goal is to try and gain more minutes in competitive games for Newcastle this season. I am going to give 100% everyday to try and make that happen."
Salia joined the Magpies on his 18th birthday from Dinamo Tbilisi in August 2025 and has scored four goals in his opening five games in all competitions for United's Under-21s side.
The 19-year-old striker made his professional debut for his hometown club in November 2023 as Dinamo narrowly missed out on winning the Erovnuli Liga title.
At international level, he has represented Georgia at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level.
Thompson, capped by England at Under-17 level, arrived at Newcastle's youth set-up from Arsenal last month after initially joining the Gunners' Hale End Academy from West Ham United ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The London-born forward, who signed his first professional contract with the Magpies on his 17th birthday, marked his first start for United's Under-21s with a goal and assist during Tuesday's 3-1 win at York City in the EFL Trophy.
Speaking after signing his maiden pro deal, Thompson said: "It's been a lot of hard work towards signing my first professional contract. I believe joining Newcastle was the right step towards what I want to achieve. I'm happy to be here and very excited for the future.
"My strengths would be dribbling, drifting inside and being able to play the ball in-behind. I'm a technical player who likes to create chances and score goals for the team.
"A big reason why I came here was the chance to play Under-21s football and be able to train with the first team, getting pushed and exposed to senior football as quickly as possible. I feel like this is the right place to do that."
